The Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) is the largest gerontechnology public education event in Hong Kong, jointly hosted by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and co-organised with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation.
Since the event’s inauguration in 2017, Guardforce has been taking part in the flagship gerontech event to showcase cutting-edge technology that can ensure the safety of the elderly. Through the event, we have exhibited various solutions over the years, such as the Anti-wandering Solution powered by facial recognition, the radar-based bed exit alarm and fall detection solution, Vitals Sensor and more.
In this year’s event, we showcased our latest Vitals integrated monitoring system for bed-bound people, and the video analytics solution for integrated monitoring. We also set up a brain activity experiential area for the elderly to personally experience the fun of brain activities using the ExBrain XB-01 portable brain sensor, the VR360 virtual reality goggles and the OBIE interactive projector.
Vitals and OBIE are two of our latest gerontech solutions showcased at GIES.
Vitals is a plug-and-play solution for monitoring people confined in bed, using BGC sensing technology to detect the slight vibrations of heart beats, breathing and small movements. When any indicators appear abnormal or the sensor detects the person is getting off the bed, an alert will be issued to the caregivers via a mobile phone, tablet or the dashboard.
The OBIE interactive projector is loaded with more than 50 fun games of varying degrees of difficulty. The games are projected to any surface, be it the floor, walls or tabletops, for users to touch and play. The games will help stimulate players’ cognition and encourage social interaction and physical activities so as to enhance the elderly’s overall well-being.
Staying true to our ESG ethos, Guardforce will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of the community through innovation, and apply technology to support the community and elderly care facilities in tackling problems associated with the ageing population, while improving the quality of life and safety for the elderly.
