The demand for premises has made Hong Kong the most expensive place in the world to buy or rent commercial property. This is understandable due to incidents such as in 2016 where the entire home safe box containing HK$5.9 million in jewellery and gold ornaments was stolen from a luxury home in a gated community in Yuen Long.
